What I do

My work focuses on compassionately guiding people to live more fulfilling and embodied lives. As a practitioner, I am mindful of a client’s capacity, boundaries, and felt sense of safety as markers to guide our pace.

I can help your mind and body work together in our individual sessions to promote greater awareness and healing.

My approach builds on my studies and experience as a practitioner for psychotherapy and my many years teaching and practicing Kundalini Yoga and meditation.

I have developed an interdisciplinary approach and my tool-bag includes:

  • Heilpraktiker für Psychotherapie (Official German license as an alternative Practitioner for Psychotherapy)
  • Somatic Experiencing Practitioner – Peter Levine
  • Integral Somatic Psychology Practitioner – Raja Selvam
  • Kundalini Yoga Instructor + Kundalini kids + teenagers and adult Yoga Instructor (3H0, Berlin) and trauma sensitive techniques
  • MSC (Mindful Self Compassion – Kristin Neff und Christopher Germer)
  • Ancestral Medicine – Rituals for Personal and Family Healing – Daniel Foor

These modalities all offer thoughtful and gentle ways of connecting with the body and the mind. My style is authentic, collaborative, warm, curious, and straightforward. Humor has always played a big role in my own life, and has guided me both through my brightest and darkest moments.

Having worked for many years as a professional artist, I am particularly attuned to the major challenges faced by creative and freelance professionals. I am very familiar with and have a great understanding for juggling the many layers of responsibilities and the great uncertainties creative professions can bring.

I can accompany you through many life experiences including:

  • trauma and stress
  • professional and personal burn-out
  • depression
  • panic, phobias and anxiety
  • the processing of grief
  • psychologically caused chronic pain

Methods

When experiencing stress and trauma, the body can enter a state dominated by sensations and emotions that seem unbearable. The central concern of trauma therapy is to reclaim your body in order to overcome these states. By gradually releasing the pent-up energy into the nervous system, you can regain access to your life force. Using speech therapy, tracking feelings and sensations, self-touch, yoga postures, breath and movement exercises we incrementally increase your capacity of tolerance, gently opening up the field of new possibilities.

Somatic Experiencing

Somatic Experiencing

Somatic Experiencing (SE) trauma work by Peter Levine, is a body-oriented speech therapy for raising awareness, overcoming and integrating shock or traumatic experiences. Extreme life-threatening circumstances such as car accidents, violence and operations you might have had, but also longtime enduring experiences dating back to childhood trauma can cause lifelong effects to the body and mind. Past trauma makes our capacity for tolerance smaller, our nervous systems constantly under threat. By experiencing our emotions and sensations little by little at a time, we slowly start to feel safe and grounded in our body.

The more you connect with your body and spend time feeling it, the more you process past trauma through emotions and sensations that naturally come up. This is when your nervous system manages to tolerate the ups and downs without being thrown into freeze or fight/flight modes so easily. Your body can discharge stress, has more spaciousness, more capacity, more tolerance. Our emotions and sensations start to feel less intense and generally more tolerable. We can fell our aliveness deeply, be more present and feel more empowered.

This work can be done seated, standing, laying down, and may incorporate therapeutic touch.

Integral Somatic Psychology

Integral Somatic Psychology

Integral Somatic Psychotherapy (ISP), founded by Raja Selvam, is a comprehensive approach to embodiment based on Western and Eastern psychology that offers the possibility of improving diverse cognitive, affective and behavioral outcomes. By working with all aspects of our experiences and our psyches, we also work in close relationship to our physical body, therefore enabling full integration. In this process, we concentrate on the embodiment of a wider range of emotions. I guide you through this, encouraging the expansion and deepening of emotional felt experience. We work together to support the body to open and contain emotions and feelings, especially the ones that have been most denied or defended against, so as to release blockages and build capacity. We use touch, self-touch, gentle movement and awareness to facilitate the process.
